BanY. J. is the chairman and founder of Stikfas Pte Ltd. He is also
the creator and inventor of STIKFAS™(US Patent 6692332), an
articulated action figure that has revolutionized the global toy
industry.
STIKFAS™ first entry into the toy market was a co-branding
effort with Electronic Arts and Westwood Studio on their game Emperor,
Battle for Dune. Stikfas Pte Ltd is also the first Singaporean company
to have their patent licensed to a US MNC, Hasbro Inc. The brand
has won many awards in the US, like Best Original Concept of the
Year 2002 (ToyFare), Most Fun and Innovative Toy of the Year 2002
(ToyShop), Top 100 greatest toys of the decade (2007 Toyfare), Red
Dot Hall of Fame 2007 and even has a comprehensive FanBook published
in Japan by Japan's biggest hobby publisher, Hobby Japan in 2004.
Stikfas Pte Ltd curently manages all aspects of the brand, from
manufacturing and distribution channels to the design and marketing.
Ban has been invited by various government agencies and private
institutions, like the Ministry of Information, Communication and
the Arts, Media Development Authority, National Heritage Board,
Monetary Authority of Singapore, Ministry of Education, Intellectual
Property Office of Singapore, Intellectual Property Office of Japan,
National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore Management University, Singapore Technologies, Leo Burnett,
BMW and many others to speak at their events. He also sits on the
board of the Design Singapore Council, ACE (Action for the Communities
of Entrepruenuers), Nanyang Polytechnic School of Industrial Design
and acts as a consultant to other companies on design and branding.
Alan received his Diploma in Visual Communication from the Temasek
Polytechnic. He has since worked in established design agencies
in Singapore, with a diverse base of clients, from MNCs to Statutory/Government
accounts, before assuming his current position of Design Director
at Caffeine Creative.
Alan believes good print design is about achieving a “totality”
throughout the various levels, from brief to print, which includes
the various touch points – including creative concept and
material finishing.
He recently won the 18th Annual ASTRID Awards 2008 – Gold
Award & Grand Award (Annual Report – Overall Presentation
– Corporations)
Alex Lim began his career as a designer after graduating from Monash
University with a degree in Graphic Design. 4 years later, he pursued
his career in advertising and won the coveted Best New Art Director
Award at the Singapore Creative Circle Awards 2000.
Alex's work has won over 100 major awards such as The D&AD,
One Show, Clio, Cannes International, Art Director’s Club,
New York Festivals, Media Spikes, London International, AdFest and
Communication Arts. His most recent win includes a Gold and a Bronze
in The One Show Design this year.
Alex is currently Creative Director of Leo Burnett in Singapore.
As Chief Product Designer, Michael Sng has contributed significantly
to the success of STIKFAS Pte. Ltd. through the various phases of
company growth in the past 6 years.
In charge of a product range that has gained a cult following worldwide,
Michael has demonstrated a keen insight into the marketing and design
needs of different cultures, and has implemented marketing strategies
effectively.
He has worked with international toy companies Hasbro and TOMY as
well as manufacturing engineers in Asia, and has gained industrial
experience in diverse aspects of small business development.
In 1993 Quentin was appointed Design Head at The Royal Opera House,
London. Producing above and below the line materials working with
experienced photographers including Lord Lichfield and Nick Knight.
Soon, a firm grounding for art direction and composition of dynamic
images was acquired. The Royal Ballets' new identity was also produced
during his time there.
Head hunted by Michael Peters Design Consultancy in 1994, one of
the top design agencies in the UK, he became Senior Designer focusing
mainly on annual reports.
Two years later in 1996, he was brought over from London to Batey
Ads, Singapore. Where he progressed from Senior Designer to Design
Director / Managing Partner. It was here that he got a firm grounding
in design and advertising, working alongside Ian Batey on major
projects including: Singapore Airlines development of their three
passenger class identities and designing of the celebratory livery
for their inaugural 747s round the world flights. Other brand developments
included: The Fullerton Hotel, Mercedes-Benz, OCBC Bank, Raffles
Hotel, SilkAir, Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Turf Club, Sony,
StarHub, Swatch Skin, Tag-Heuer, United Overseas Bank and Visa.
Key successes included the Drugs Book for the National Council Against
Drug Abuse which picked up global award recognition.
He joined Enterprise IG in October, 2001 as design director learning
invaluable insights into external and internal branding and realignment.
Developing brand identities for A*STAR and the Global Brand Forum
before setting up Qube in 2003.
Qube were appointed the regional agency to Four Seasons Hotels and
Resorts within the first month of its opening, an account which
was previously shared between Lowe Worldwide and Enterprise IG.
Other accounts currently working with Qube include The Ascott Group
and United World Colleges.
